As fees can be a sensitive topic, I like my clients to know my fees up front. For the majority of my work I charge a flat-fee. A flat-fee is a one time single fee, and you are responsible for any court fees or out-of-pocket expenses related to your case.
In criminal cases, this fee is due up front and representation will not begin until it has been paid. For estate planning matters, half the fee is due when the retainer agreement is signed and the other half is due upon signing of your documents. Elder law matters are charged at an hourly rate and billed monthly, with a retainer due when the retainer agreement is signed.
Advice & Consultation
If you are simply looking to talk to an attorney to evaluate your case, I charge an hourly rate of $100. If after speaking with me, you decide to hire me to represent you this $100 will be credited to your representation/retainer fee.
Criminal Law
I charge a flat fee for all criminal law matters. The fee for your particular case may vary depending on the facts, circumstances and complexity of your case. Generally, my fees are as follows: first time 4th degree DWI is $2,000 (this fee will increase based on how many prior DWI’s you have, and what degree you are currently being charged with), expungements are $1,800 per case, misdemeanor offenses begin at $1500, and traffic offenses begin at $600.
Elder Law
I charge my hourly rate of $150 for elder law matters. I do require a retainer of $1500 to cover the first 10 hours of work performed on your case. This money will be held in a trust account until you have been billed for my time. I bill my time on a monthly basis, unless the matter is completed sooner. If the matter does not take 10 hours, you will be refunded the remaining balance being held in the trust account.
Estate Planning
With the exception of conservatorship and guardianship matters, I charge a flat fee for all estate planning matters. The fee for your particular situation may vary depending on the facts, circumstances and complexity of your estate. Generally, my fees are as follows: a simple will is $400 for an individual and $600 for a couple, a revocable trust is $1,500 for an individual and $2,000 for a couple, healthcare directives are $100, and a power of attorney is $100. If you are in need of a will or a trust, the healthcare directive and power of attorney are included in your estate plan at no charge. For conservatorship and guardianship matters I charge my hourly rate of $150, and require a retainer of $1,500.
